HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE ( HHW ): aldwin BALDWIN BOROUGH NEWS
The police department welcomes Bishnu Khatiwada as our new police Administrative Assistant . Bishnu was born in a refugee camp in Nepal . His parents , escaping political discord in Bhutan in the 1990 ’ s , faced daily hardship in the camp that lacked even basic necessities . Bishnu learned resiliency from his parents as they struggled through this impossible time . In 2011 , with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration ( IOM ), Bishnu and his family were able to relocate to Pittsburgh , PA . They quickly learned that life in the United States offered boundless opportunities compared to the constrained life of the refugee camp . The driving force behind Bishnu ’ s ambition was the ability to earn an education and gain stable employment . He was determined to make the most of the opportunity afforded to him , a reflection of the sacrifices his parents made for him . He graduated from Baldwin High School in 2020 and is currently pursuing a bachelor ’ s degree in criminal justice at Point Park University . He began his work career in 2019 at Walmart , moving to his most recent position with the Transportation Security Administration ( TSA ). Bishnu told us , “ I aim to help everyone , regardless of their background , ensuring a sense of safety and belonging to the community .” He is looking forward to his opportunity in Baldwin Borough to contribute positively , bridging gaps and fostering a supportive environment for all . Through it all , Bishnu said , “ I carry the legacy of my parents ’ resilience , striving to make a lasting impact in the community that now feels like home .” Please help us welcome Bishnu to the Baldwin Borough family .
On Friday , September 29th , Baldwin Borough Public Library and Baldwin Borough partnered up for their first ever Movie Night ! The movie “ Lightyear ” was shown on the big screen at Colewood Park . Families were able to set out a blanket or chairs on the lawn and watch the movie with free popcorn . Members of the South Baldwin Fire Company were kind enough to bring a fire truck to the event for the kids to see up close and provided lighting for the walk back to the parking lot after the movie . It was a great event that we hope to continue !
