BRENTWOOD BREAKI
A
fter nearly 9 years of planning,
studies, and analysis, the
Borough of Brentwood
accomplished yet another
milestone in what has been a series
of groundbreakings and ribbon
cuttings over the past several
years when they broke ground on
what will be a new state-of-the-
art Municipal Complex. On May
2, 2019 the clouds parted, and the
sun came out as Borough Officials
with “golden shovels” broke ground
on the construction of the New
Municipal Complex. The location
of the new Municipal Complex is
at the corner of Hillman St. and
Brownsville Road which was the
site of the former Snee Dairy. The
Borough purchased this property
in 2017 due to its proximity to
the existing Borough Building as
well as the need to eliminate a
blighted structure along Brownsville
Road. In addition to the asbestos
within the building the site had
environmental issues that needed

to be remediated. Years of being on the
market proved that there was no interest
in anyone purchasing the former Snee
Dairy. “With the lack of parking and the
remediation costs associated with this
property it would more than likely had
continued to deteriorate for years” stated
Council President Harold Smith. “By
turning this property into the site of the
New Municipal Complex the Borough
eliminates a blighted structure along a
main corridor through the Borough as
well as opens up the current Borough
Building property for future development.
The problem with lack of parking for this
parcel was resolved when the Brentwood
Presbyterian Church agreed to let the
Borough utilize their parking lot in
exchange for the Borough’s maintaining
of their lot.
