Communities in and around Pittsburgh are rapidly changing — and Brentwood is no exception . The pandemic , inflation , and a volatile housing market are changing the way people spend money , where they choose to live , and what kind of housing they can afford . To position the community to thrive during the next decade , Brentwood Borough is conducting a long-range plan that will use community input to craft a vision for the Borough ’ s future and couple it with expert planning and development insight to craft a detailed strategy to bring it to life . This document , called YourBrentwoodPlan , will serve as the guide for directing Borough Council and other entities to enact policies that will achieve the Brentwood ’ s vision and goals .
In Phase 1 of YourBrentwoodPlan , the Borough is soliciting feedback in the form of a community questionnaire . So far , roughly 450 people have completed the survey ( about 4.5 % of Brentwood ’ s total population ).
Emerging themes include :
• Engaging landlords to upkeep rental properties
• Preserving and enhancing park / greenspace amenities
• Increasing the perception of safety
• Balancing parking with walkability
• Emulating nearby communities like Shadyside , Mt . Lebanon , or Dormont
• Incentivizing exciting and fresh businesses to locate in Brentwood
• Making Route 51 safer and more appealing
• Strengthening diversity and facilitating an inclusive Brentwood
After the survey closes and the results are further analyzed , the plan ’ s steering committee and the consultant team will focus on Brentwood ’ s most important key issues . The consultant team will then create a list of implementable action items and recommendations to address each key issue . The plan is expected to be completed in 2023 .

TAX news

If you have recently bought a house in the borough in 2021 , you may be receiving an increased assessment from the county , which may affect your current year taxes . You should receive something in the mail from Allegheny County telling you that your assessed valuation has increased . When I get the increase assessment or change forms from the county , I will input them and send the increased bill to the billing address shown in my system . If that billing address is a mortgage company , that is where the additional bill will be sent . Most mortgage companies do not pay or remit the additional taxes , because mortgage companies normally do not pay any installment tax which increased assessment bills are considered to be . I strongly suggest that if you recently bought a house that you email me after October 31st to see if you are up-to-date with all of your taxes . Remember I must close my tax year by January 10th per the law .
If you have bought a house in 2022 after March 31st you will not be reassessed in the current year , but you will be in 2023 .
I strongly urge all taxpayers to watch out for any mail from Allegheny County Assessor ’ s office , you do not want to have unpaid taxes turned over to Jordan as they not only add penalties but costs too .
Also remember your school taxes are due by August 31st if you would like to take advantage of the discount amount .
If you would like a receipt or have a question about your taxes , please email me at fboland @ donnelly-boland . com and I will get you an answer as quickly as possible . If you are emailing me from mid-August to mid-September . Please be patient as this is the busiest time of the year as it is the end of discount .
My office hours are every 2nd and 4th Tuesday and Thursday , 9-12 and 1-3 respectively . I am only collecting through the drive-thru as our offices are no longer opened to the public .
