STUDENTS CREATE THE PERFECT FOOD
E
ighth Grade students in Mrs.
Campagna’s classroom at
Independence Middle School
worked together to create the Perfect
Food and they did a great job!
The students worked in small groups to
create a new food, write a recipe, prepare
an ingredient list for grocery shopping,
create the packaging for the food
product, market the product by making a
commercial using iMovie, and prepare and
present their product to their classmates.
The students were excited about the
project and developed foods such as
“Mallow Bites,” “Spud Surprise Soup,”
“Cheesy Broccoli Croissants,” “S’mores

Crescent Rolls,” “Fruit Lover’s Pizza” and
“Stufft.”
The commercial for “Mallow Bites,” a
combination of marshmallows, chocolate
and graham crackers, included the
tagline, “A Camp Fire in Every Bite.” Some
commercials included a jingle for their
products.
The students were energized for this
project after a visit to their classroom
by Bethel Park High School DECA
students Paige Davidson and Maria
Schiller, who worked with the students to
brainstorm some ideas. Mrs. Campagna
also created a Facebook group for Family
