MASN Begins a New Chapter with Newly Elected Officers
The Mississippi Association of Student Nurses( MASN) is a statewide organization dedicated to supporting nursing students through leadership development, advocacy, and professional growth. Each year, MASN hosts an annual convention that brings together nursing students from programs across Mississippi to learn more about the profession, build connections, and participate in key organizational initiatives.
This year’ s MASN Annual Convention was held in Biloxi, Mississippi, and featured a variety of educational sessions, collaborative discussions, and networking opportunities that allowed students to share experiences and strengthen professional relationships. A highlight of the convention was the nomination and installation of the new MASN officer team.
During the convention, newly elected board members officially assumed their leadership roles, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the organization. The newly elected officers are Keirra Birch, President; Haley Herring, Vice President I;
Nina Patel, Vice President II; Clay Williams, Secretary / Treasurer; Macy Polk, Director of Communications; Tyla Branch, Chairperson of School Presidents; Sia Thakor, Breakthrough to Nursing Chair; and Taylor Bennett, Director of Fundraising.
Speaking on her vision for the organization, President Keirra Birch shared,“ My platform is centered on unity, visibility, and empowerment. I want MASN to be a space where every nursing student feels seen, supported, and confident in their voice. By strengthening communication, expanding advocacy efforts, and creating intentional leadership opportunities, we can continue building a strong and connected community of future nurses across Mississippi.”
These student leaders are eager to serve the MASN community and bring fresh ideas and renewed energy to the organization. As they step into their roles, the new officer team looks forward to working collaboratively to uphold MASN’ s mission and continue inspiring and supporting future nurses across the state of Mississippi.
