President and a CNSA Board Director for 2024 – 2025. I recently completed my ADN in June and am currently pursuing my RN – BSN at United Nursing College in Murrieta, CA. I also work as an emergency room nurse— a role that I absolutely love!
I proudly call Riverside County in Southern California home, where the dry heat is real, but so is the sunshine. Outside of nursing and leadership, I’ m a proud mom of five incredible kids who inspire me every single day. They are my“ why.”
This year, the Convention Committee is focused on several exciting goals. We aim to increase attendance at the Annual Convention, offer impactful focus sessions that support the resolutions passed at our House of Delegates, and generate more engagement and RSVPs for our highly anticipated Opening Night Events. Mark your calendars— our MidYear Convention will take place November 6 – 8, 2025, in Columbus, OH, and our Annual Convention is April 8 – 11, 2026, in Houston, TX. We can’ t wait to see you there!
Being part of NSNA at the state and national levels has deeply enriched my journey, helping me grow as a nursing student, an advocate, and a future nurse educator. I’ ve found my voice, my confidence, and my professional identity through NSNA, and I truly believe every nursing student deserves that same opportunity.
If you’ re wondering where to start— start anywhere. Whether it’ s a committee, a taskforce, or simply attending a session— there’ s a place for you here.
Please don’ t hesitate to reach out to me for anything, especially if you’ re curious about Convention, Awards, or how to get more involved. Email me anytime at DirectorW @ nsna. org.
I can ' t wait to connect with you!

Hi everyone!:)
My name is Kyla Mesa, and I am a proud senior Bachelor of Science in Nursing( BSN) student at Georgia Gwinnett College( GGC) and an aspiring Pediatric Intensive Care Unit( PICU) nurse. I have always known that I wanted to be a nurse— but when my little sister suffered from a ruptured brain arteriovenous malformation( AVM) in 2015, becoming a nurse meant more. Watching my mom, a nurse, save my sister’ s life by recognizing and advocating for my sister’ s stroke symptoms, and witnessing the nurses at Children’ s Healthcare of Atlanta bring her back to full health, changed everything for me. All I want to do is to be that same kind of light for others too. Since then, every step I have taken has been to become a nurse who makes people feel seen, heard, and cared for, just like my mom and my sister’ s nurses.
Today, I am honored to serve as NSNA Director and Chair of the Health Policy and Advocacy Committee. At my school, I serve as President of GGC’ s Nursing Student Government( NSG) and NSG Representative of the Gwinnett Grizzly Bear Association of Nursing Students( GGBANS). I also work in the PICU as a Patient Care Technician / Nurse Extern, which is the very same unit and hospital that my sister was treated at.
What I love most about NSNA is how it encourages student nurses and gives us the space to lead, meet, advocate, and inspire one another. NSNA has enabled me to find my voice, turn my passion into action, and connect with nursing students across the country who share my determination to be part of the conversation and shape the future of healthcare. NSNA unites us, and it is a true honor to be surrounded by incredible, inspiring nursing students like you.
