Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing, with a graduation date of December 2025! On campus, I’ ve had the privilege of being the President of the Student Nurses Association at Baylor, Bears for The Cure, Oncology Society, and a three-time Orientation Leader. I also recently had the honor of receiving membership in Baylor’ s Eta Gamma chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. Student involvement is crucial to professional growth, especially in nursing, and I make sure to advocate and create opportunities for members to be involved in a low-stress environment.
My“ why” for nursing is a bit unconventional, as I started due to negative experiences with nurses while working. I originally joined this profession to prove that it is possible to be kind and compassionate even with a high-stress workload, but I stayed because I fell in love with everything it means to be a nurse. I know I want to pursue graduate school, but I haven’ t truly decided on anything specific yet. I have thoroughly enjoyed research but am not against advanced practice nursing. I have enjoyed every single rotation I’ ve been on, but I know I’ ve been called to oncology, specifically pediatric oncology.
While I only became heavily involved in NSNA recently, I have made so many lasting connections and chances to grow professionally. The staff and leadership I’ ve gotten to know are what truly makes NSNA a spectacular organization. My goal this year is to create an open line of dialogue that goes directly to members as well as build on the financial success of the previous Board of Directors. Finance can be a difficult concept to grasp and I’ m hoping my expertise can provide this Board, as well as our membership, a unique perspective.
If you have any questions, big or small, or even if you want advice, do not hesitate to reach out to me at secretary-treasurer @ nsna. org. If I don’ t have an answer, I know someone who does!

Hi NSNA! My name is Lauren Tickner, and I’ m honored to serve as the Imprint Editor and Chair of the Image of Nursing Committee for the 2025 – 2026 year. I’ ve had the privilege of holding the Imprint Editor role over the past year as well, and I’ m thrilled to continue in this position alongside such an inspiring and hardworking team. In addition to my current roles, I serve on the Membership Committee and recently joined the NSNA UWorld Student Advisory Board. I’ m excited to keep building these connections and contributing to our incredible student nursing community.
Originally from San Diego, California, I now reside in Ventura County and attend California State University Channel Islands, with a graduation date of May 2026! On campus, I’ ve been active in our Student Nurses’ Association, previously serving as Education Representative for the 2023 – 2024 school year, as well as Communications Chair. Leadership within nursing school is something I’ m deeply passionate about, and I’ m eager to bring my skills and experience to the NSNA Board of Directors.
My passion for nursing stems from the meaningful relationships we build with patients and the broader medical community, as well as the constant opportunities to learn and grow. After graduation, I plan to pursue a degree in Advanced Practice Nursing. While I’ ve enjoyed all of my clinical rotations so far, pediatric nursing has especially sparked my interest— though I’ m keeping an open mind as I continue exploring different specialties.
