Hello , I am Caprice Leighton and I am excited to serve as the newly elected Northern Area Representative for the NSNA Nominating and Elections Committee for 2024-2025 . Currently , I am in my second year at Moberly Area Community College in Moberly , MO , working towards my Associates Degree in Nursing with an expected graduation in December 2024 .
Beyond my role with the NSNA , I am actively involved as the Secretary / Treasurer for the Missouri Nursing Students ’ Association and Secretary for the MACC Student Nurses Association . My extensive background in healthcare spans over 30 years , with experience in administrative and leadership roles . I have contributed to committees such as the Boone Health Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection ( CAUTI ) Committee and have been engaged in Inclusion , Diversity , and Equity initiatives , alongside various community volunteer activities .
I hold master ’ s degrees in business administration and criminal justice , which I will leverage to specialize in risk management , infection prevention , and emergency medicine . My practical experience includes roles as a phlebotomist , patient care technician , and secretary in the Emergency Room at Boone Health , where I have been honored with the Partner in Caring Award and Bee Award for exceptional caregiving , in addition to receiving several scholarships .
As the Northern Area Representative for the Nominating and Elections Committee , I am eager to identify and recruit talented candidates for national office and to contribute my leadership skills to assist managing the election campaigning at the upcoming NSNA National Convention .

Hello everyone ! I am truly honored to be a part of the Nominating and Elections Committee this year and am excited about the opportunity to connect with all of you throughout my term . The National Student Nurses ’ Association has been a cornerstone of my undergraduate journey , and I ’ m eager to give back by fostering connections and expanding the network of stories and experiences that have shaped my own path .
My primary goal this year is to work closely with the National Student Nurses ’ Association leadership to identify and engage with the future leaders of our organization . I am committed to advancing the National
Student Nurses Association ’ s mission , which has been an essential source of support and guidance for countless nursing students nationwide . I hope to set up the National Student Nurses Association to continue to be a beacon of professionalism and a dynamic platform for student engagement as we progress through our nursing education and begin our careers in not only healthcare , but policy , government , and business .
