Nominating and Elections Committee

Samantha Kendall
NEC Chair , Southern Election Area Representative Covenant School of Nursing and Allied Health Lubbock , TX necsouth @ nsna . org
Hello NSNA members and future NSNA leaders ! My name is Samantha Kendall and I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as the 2024-2025 NEC Chair and NEC Southern Election Area Representative . Thank you for continuing to support me and allow me to represent you and other nursing students nationwide as they take the next steps to becoming involved with NSNA leadership .
I attend one of the few diploma hospital-based programs left in the country , Covenant School of Nursing in Lubbock , TX , that is attached to the Providence / St . Joseph Health Systems . I am an alumna of Texas Tech University with two degrees in Communication Studies and Political Science . I was on the Texas Tech debate team and have continued to use my leadership skills in other various extra curriculars throughout my time in college . I also have served as the President of my local Student Nurse Association and will pass on the torch in September 2024 . I have loved my time being involved in so many different wonderful organizations and can ’ t wait to serve NSNA and all of you as NEC Chair .
My “ why ” for nursing is to advocate for others . I grew up having to advocate for myself at a young age and have always loved using my voice to help challenge the norms around me to create a change for the better . I grew up in a very small town in Texas that often made it hard to have a different opinion or challenge what has always been done . I took my love for advocacy and poured my heart out into debate until I came to college . I started working at a local hospital in Lubbock and loved the amount of advocacy that nurses use daily for their patients . I loved the advocacy that I saw and knew nursing was a place to call home for me as an aspiring nurse attorney . I hope that one day I can make the difference for a patient as their nurse .
My mission in NSNA is for helping nursing students find a position to help them advocate for others by using their impressive skill sets , abilities , and talents . I know that becoming a leader can be challenging to others , especially on a national level , but I want to encourage others to use their talents ! As the NEC Chair , I support you wholeheartedly and want to ensure you have all the resources and information you need to be successful in your candidacy ! I look forward to seeing everyone at the MidYear Conference in Kentucky and Annual Convention in Seattle !
If you have any questions about the upcoming conferences , positions within NSNA , running as a candidate , or any general questions about NSNA , please feel free to email me at NECsouth @ nsna . org and I will see you very soon !
