An Ohio transplant in the South , I am a secondcareer nursing student at the University of South Carolina-Columbia and am currently enrolled in an MSN-RN licensure program . Before diving headfirst into the world of nursing , I worked as a classical musician performing in orchestras and teaching at both the high school and college level – if you listen closely , you can still hear me playing in various ensembles across South Carolina . In addition to serving as COSP Chair , I am the President of Student Nurses ’ Association of South Carolina and co-chair the state ’ s convention planning committee . In both roles , I pride myself in functioning as a resource to others , leveraging past experiences and love of learning to assist where I can . I live in Columbia , SC with my husband Jackson , three cats , and an ever-growing garden . n

Future NSNA leaders , it is with great honor and enthusiasm that I address you as the newly elected 2023-2024 Chairperson and Eastern Election Area Representative for the NSNA Nominating and Elections Committee ( NEC ). I currently attend Lehigh Carbon Community College located in Schnecksville , Pennsylvania . I am on track to graduate in May 2024 with an associate degree in nursing . My goal is to obtain my master ’ s degree and enter the world of education .
My passion for nursing didn ’ t emerge until after I entered high school . Attending a vocational school , I was exposed to many different career paths and opportunities . During my sophomore year , I entered the CNA program , which gave me a deep appreciation for the world of nursing . Through the many experiences I ’ ve had over the years , I can confidently say that I ’ ve developed a passion for nursing . I believe that , whether you ’ re there for a patient in their final breaths or their first one , it is a privilege to share in some of the most drastic moments of a person ’ s life . It is something for which I ’ ll always be grateful .
Our shared dedication to this profession will guide our endeavors as we navigate the complex world of nursing education and practice . As your NEC Chairperson , I am steadfast in my commitment to nurturing your leadership potential . I am so excited to collaborate with you all and help you harness your own unique strengths and talents that will shape the future of our profession . I know without a doubt , the relationships and interactions I cultivate during my term will contribute significantly to my own personal and professional development .

Good day fellow NSNA members ! I am delighted to introduce myself as the 2023-2024 NEC Northern Area Representative . I ’ m grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Nominating and Elections Committee , and help other students make an impact . As a first-time attendee at an NSNA Annual Convention , it was an absolute pleasure to meet and connect with nursing students from across the nation in Nashville . I look forward to reuniting at the upcoming Midyear Conference in San Diego , and Annual Convention in Orlando , FL .
I am a non-traditional nursing student entering my senior year at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College ( SMWC ) in Terre Haute , IN . I proudly serve as the SMWC Student Nurses ’ Association chapter President , the Image of Nursing Director for the Indiana Association of Nursing Students ( IANS ), and a member of the NSNA Leadership University Honor Society . I currently work as a nursing student at Riley Children ’ s Hospital , where I have been privileged to join the Brand Ambassador pilot team for Indiana University Health . Upon graduation , my goal is to become a certified lactation consultant and doula . Beyond work and school , I hold the amazing role of wife and mother . My husband and I are parents of a 7-year-old daughter and 2 “ doghters ” as well . We enjoy traveling , all things outdoors , and new adventures and memories .
Being an NEC representative will allow me to hear the voices of nursing students from all over . As a Black woman , I am privileged to bring to NSNA a deep-rooted commitment to fostering an environment of inclusivity , a passion for encouraging collaboration among diverse groups , and an unwavering dedication to ensuring that our collective efforts genuinely reflect the remarkable diversity that characterizes our nursing student population . I understand the importance of representation , the significance of diverse perspectives , and the power of unity in our pursuit of advancing the nursing profession . My experiences have shaped me into an advocate for equality and a catalyst for change , driven by the belief that every student ’ s unique background and experiences should be acknowledged , celebrated , and harnessed to drive meaningful progress within our organization .
