Trey Harpole Director Henry Ford College ( HFC ) Dearborn , MI directorn @ nsnainc . org
Hello amazing NSNA members ! It is my honor to serve on the 2023-2024 Board of Directors with all these amazing people . I was fortunate enough to be named the chair of the Convention Planning Committee . I am excited to be a part of the Image of Nursing Committee as well as the Ethics and Governance Committee .
I am currently in my final semester of the ADN program at Henry Ford College where I will graduate in December . I was given the opportunity to be dual enrolled at the University of Michigan ( U of M ) – Flint for the RN- BSN program during the summer of 2023 where I have completed the first 2 of 5 semesters . I currently sit as the Secretary of the HFC Student Nurses ’ Association , am a member of the U of M-Flint Student Nurses ’ Association and am an active member in the Michigan Nursing Students ’ Association . After the completion of my first semester of nursing school I was offered a Nurse Extern position , so I have been working at a local hospital on an Intermediate Intensive Care Unit for just over a year .
Being the Chair of the Convention Planning Committee has been a thrilling experience so far . My goal for this year is to help foster nursing student growth and promote advocacies for all . My plan for our convention this year is to help ensure that each of the NSNA committees has the opportunity for their chosen resolutions to be represented and heard by all our members .
I was excited to speak to many of you as I ran for Director during the 71st NSNA Annual Convention in Nashville , and I cannot wait to get to know you more during the MidYear Conference in San Diego this November and at the 72nd Annual Convention in Orlando next April .
Please don ’ t hesitate to reach out to me or any of the board members with any questions , concerns , ideas , or whatever you may need . I hope that each of you have a happy , healthy , and safe start to the new school term , and I can ’ t wait to see you all soon ! n
Flynn Almirol Director Florida State College at Jacksonville Jacksonville , FL directors @ nsnainc . org
Greetings NSNA members ! First , I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for giving me the chance to be one of the Directors this year ! I ’ m currently an RN-to-BSN student at Florida State College at Jacksonville ( FSCJ ). I earned an associate degree in nursing from FSCJ . I ’ m currently a full-time Emergency Department Registered Nurse at one of the local hospitals in Jacksonville , FL . I chair the NSNA Population and Global Health Committee and am a member of Health Policy and Advocacy Committee , and Breakthrough to Nursing ( BTN ) Committee . These committees have tremendously impacted a lot of nursing students ’ lives and I wish to contribute to their growing success .
I have three values in life that help me become successful in whatever I do — intellectual , integrity , and initiative . These three values are transferable and not nursing-specific . Being a life-long learner gaining valuable skills and knowledge along the way , as well as being true to what you do and taking the first steps to blazing your own trail , in my opinion , are all you need to become successful in life .
My committee ’ s goal is to bring mental health training to at least one of the state conventions and to expand on a local level , taking into consideration that cultures have different approaches when it comes to mental health . Our generation has given mental health the platform to expand and to be accepted by the community . I am your voice , and I am here to advocate for the betterment of the student nursing community moving forward .
As we recover and rebuild our lives after the COVID-19 pandemic , let ’ s not forget that as future nurses , we need to make sure that we are taking good care of ourselves before we take care of other people . Again , thank you so much for giving me the chance to represent our vibrant student nursing community ! n
