Alexis Hodges Ex-Officio Director / COSP Chair Aurora University Aurora , IL ex-officio @ nsnainc . org
Hello fellow NSNA members ! I am honored to be serving on the 2020-2021 NSNA Board of Directors as an Ex-Officio Director and the Chair of the Council of State Presidents ( COSP ) Planning Committee . I am also happy to serve on the Ethics and Governance Committee . I look forward to meeting many of you at our MidYear Conference this fall , as well as future virtual events .
Currently , I am a senior at Aurora University in Illinois pursuing my BSN . I have had so many opportunities within my school and the state to help guide the nursing profession to be more than bedside manner . Inspiring students has always been a passion of mine to get everyone out of their comfort zone .
Speaking of my passion , one of my goals this year is to allow for the state presidents to share ideas together . I want to help mold not just successful nurses , but exceptional leaders . The simple act of making student nurses feel comfortable and confident is just the beginning of helping mold new leaders .
I wish everyone all the best during your semester . I hope to see everyone be an exceptional nurse ! Feel free to reach out to me at cosp @ nsnainc . org if you have any ideas or questions for me , I would be more than happy to chat with you . Thank you again !
Nominating and Elections Committee
Isabella Allgaier NEC Chair , Western Election Area Representative Brigham Young University Provo , UT necwest @ nsnainc . org
NSNA members , I am so grateful to be serving you as the Nominating and Elections Committee Chairperson and Western Election Area Representative . I thank you for your contribution to this organization and I commend you for your perseverance through these challenging times .
Standing at only 4 feet 10 inches tall , most people confuse me for someone ’ s child , though I am currently a senior nursing student at Brigham Young University in Utah . I am originally from Washington State , and after high school , I served an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Honduras . I chose nursing for a profession because I love that 100 % of my energy can be devoted to serving others .
When I began the nursing program at Brigham Young University , I was far from the enthusiastic leader I am today . I was nervous and overwhelmed with the daunting task of keeping up with my exceptional peers . But as I stepped far outside my comfort zone and took different leadership opportunities in my school ’ s NSNA chapter , I gained the confidence to better advocate for patients , lead in healthcare teams , and promote the development of future nurse leaders . I am so grateful to those who have encouraged me to develop my leadership skills , and as the NEC Chair and Western Representative , I hope to pay it forward by encouraging others to do the same .
My mission as NEC Chair is to seek out , encourage , and assist the most qualified members of NSNA to run for positions at the national level of this incredible organization . To fulfill this mission , I plan to use an individualized approach by developing stronger relationships and working closely alongside state association presidents who know their NSNA members best . I will encourage state leaders of the Western election area to motivate at least one individual in the school year to consider running for national office . Through clear communication and teamwork , NSNA members will feel inspired , motivated , and confident in their decision to pursue leadership opportunities .
Nurses must cultivate compassion and practice resilience while we are in school in order to become the future nurses our world depends on . I believe that serving in the NSNA is an empowering way to discover your potential as a current and future nurse leader . If you ’ re even slightly interested in running for national office , please reach out to me so I can answer any questions or concerns . I look forward to hearing from you !
Jessica Niebauer Northern Election Area Representative Siena Heights University Adrian , MI necnorth @ nsnainc . org
Hello fellow NSNA members ! I am so grateful to be serving as your NEC Northern Area Representative . Although I was unable to meet with all of you at this year ’ s convention , I look forward to connecting with you in these upcoming months !
I am currently attending Siena Heights University in Michigan . I will be entering my final year in the fall , and I will be graduating with my BSN in May 2021 . This past year I was able to serve on the Michigan Nursing
Student Association Board of Directors , as well as my local SNA chapter ’ s Vice President . Additionally , outside of nursing I have a passion for traveling , filmmaking , and helping other individuals find their purpose in life . Overall , I believe that the skills I developed in these leadership roles , and my passions will ultimately assist in serving in this role to the best of my ability .
Throughout this upcoming year I expect to accomplish multiple goals . First and foremost , I plan to encourage students from around the nation to serve on the National Board of Directors or fill the NEC positions . Overall , I intend to provide a full slate of candidates that can best represent its NSNA members . In addition , as a student that will graduate with under twenty students in my cohort , I have a passion to assist “ small school ” individuals to help find the courage to run for a Board or NEC position . Lastly , I plan on assisting all individuals throughout the entire process of running for a position . I truly believe that serving on the Board and NEC is an amazing opportunity and I encourage anyone who is interested to reach out to my fellow NEC members or myself for more information ; we are all prepared to assist you in any way we can !
To conclude , I am extremely blessed to serve you in the best capacity . I look forward to meeting all of you at NSNA Virtual MidYear Conference , and I am personally wishing you the best of luck as you enter the greatest profession !
