#I Own Safety
THE ROAD SAFETY
DRIVING PROGRAM
Until recently, each of the Imperial Brands markets has had
its own special control mechanisms and methods of reducing
traffic accidents. In 2016, with the support of our head office
in Bristol, DRIVE SAFE, a global safe driving program, was
launched. The program clearly defined our priorities and
added more instruments to our arsenal.

• A review and improvement of the transport policy;
• The development of additional Road Safety Regulations;
• Defensive driving training being provided for employees;
• Installation of satellite vehicle monitoring systems;
• Improved quality of communication and reporting;
• Development of incentive programs.
Defensive Driving is a driving style that helps the driver
to avoid accidents irrespective of the other road users’
behaviour.
Between March and April 2017, 189 employees of the Moscow
and Volga-South regions underwent training. The objective
of the program until the end of 2018 is to provide training to
all the Cluster employees using cars.
In 2016, installation of the SCOUT satellite monitoring
system on all company vehicles started as part of
the DRIVE SAFE program. The system is designed
to reduce the number of accidents on the roads by
correcting driving behaviour and monitoring violations
of the Traffic Regulations. Besides, in certain cases the
SCOUT system serves as an indispensable tool for checking
information about circumstances surrounding a traffic
accident.

of the company’s vehicles in Russia and 95% of them in
Kazakhstan.
In February 2017, "the competition" Safe Driving is Our
Choice and Responsibility was launched. It will run until the
end of the year. Ninety teams headed by their supervisors
have registered to take part. We are pleased to announce
that 43 teams did not have a single work-related driving
accident in the period from February to May 2017.
Alexander Belyaev, Labor Safety Specialist
Russia: “I appreciate having the opportunity
to address you personally. I would like to
share my deep satisfaction with the fact that
our colleagues have demonstrated greater
vigilance and responsibility while driving. This
shows our growing understanding of the fact
that under no circumstances should we put our lives
at risk or anybody else’s while out on the roads. Each
person’s life is inseparably linked with the destinies of
their family members and friends. This is why each of us
should think about them first, and take well-considered,
responsible decisions. I am confident that together we can
become a model for other companies, showing by example
that it is possible to run a successful business in entirely
safe ways.”
