The Miller Family Foundation supports multiple foster care organizations , including Utah Foster Care and First Lady Abby Cox ’ s initiative , Show Up for Foster Care . Through the Miller Family Foundation , Karen Miller Williams directed funding to Raise the Future , which connects youth in foster care with caring adults to create stable and loving relationships .
Data from Utah ’ s most recent Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System ( AFCARS ) showed that in 2020 :
2,373 youth waiting
40 % over the age of 11
24 %
had experienced 4 + home placements
Raise the Future increases the chances of adoption for the “ longest-waiting ” youth by up to three times by reconnecting them with safe , loving adults within their existing network , which leads to faster , more successful placements .
