The Wat Lao Salt Lake Buddharam , located in West Valley City , promotes and preserves Buddhist teachings , traditions , language and literature . It serves 60,000 Buddhists in Utah and visitors from surrounding states , including Idaho , Nevada , Wyoming and California . The Miller Family Foundation donated $ 200,000 to support renovation projects at the Buddharam . Other contributing partners included Huntsman Family Foundation , The Stirling Foundation and Zions Bank .
