Unlike traditional locking methods that rely on friction, Nord-Lock washers use a wedge-locking principle. Each washer pair features cams on one side and radial teeth on the other. When installed under a bolt head or nut, the teeth grip the mating surfaces. If vibration or movement attempts to loosen the joint, the cam angle forces the bolt to rise, increasing clamp force and effectively preventing loosening. This approach has proven especially valuable in construction and mining applications such as excavators, haul trucks, crushers, conveyors and structural steel connections, according to the company.

essential. These pre-assembled kits simplify installation and removal, reduce physical strain on maintenance crews and deliver precise, repeatable preload, the company says. The result is faster maintenance, improved safety and reduced equipment downtime.
Pivot joints present another persistent challenge. Traditional solid pins often wear unevenly, creating clearance that leads to increased vibration, accelerated wear and reduced machine precision. Expander
System pivot pins address this issue by creating a true“ zero-clearance” fit in both new and worn bores, Nord-Lock says. Expansion sleeves distribute loads evenly along the full length of the pin, reducing localised stress and slowing wear. During scheduled maintenance, the pins can be re-expanded to compensate for wear, often without removing the pin or disassembling major components.
Eliminating double handling
