Today ’ s guests have a basic expectation for their in-room entertainment options . The news , of course . A national sports provider ; regional coverage if they ’ re fortunate . Programming to entertain the young & young-at-heart . And premium subscription-based cable . Hoteliers have mastered these fundamentals over the better part of four decades , and their patrons would be quick to protest if they balked ! But what can hotels provide that exceeds these expectations ? Is it still possible to wow the guests who ’ ve become accustomed to a linear TV experience ? We believe so . We believe that technology designed with hospitality in mind elevates both .
The prevalence of streaming OTT ( over-the-top ) services like Netflix 1 , which is available through our EVOLVE platform , and digital content platforms like the Google Play 2 Store have reset the landscape of how entertainment is consumed . Without getting too whimsically nostalgic , these options simply did not exist a few short years ago . But these evolutions pose excellent opportunities for hoteliers to accrue goodwill in the minds of their patrons . Consider this : Guests now have the option to continue watching a series only available on an OTT service while on vacation . Similarly , we ’ ve found that guests appreciate the option to bring their “ Must Watch ” queue with them and that a luxury hotel can replicate the experience of a private screening room . It ’ s the “ cherry on top ,” the expected sundae they ordered and the bonus features they ’ re thrilled to have . But it doesn ’ t stop there — there are still ample opportunities to wow guests with experiences and options that all but the most welltraveled will find novel .
