• Where can end users fi nd
Canine Craving products? Are
you selling Canine Craving
treats through e-portals and
pet shops?
We sell largely through our website
https://caninecraving.com. In certain
conditions, we do take orders offl ine
through Instagram DM, one can
follow us through our handle @
caninecraving.
We are also partnering with other
e-commerce portals such as “The
Better India (Karnival).” We are
working towards making our
products more accessible for our
customers which includes retail
store partnerships.
• How much does Canine
Craving products cost for pets?
We offer a variety of products for
general to specifi c usage and this
value defi nes the price. However, on
the scale of cost, the product range
starts from Rs. 59 and goes upto
Rs.1599.
• Does Canine Craving have
any intentions of entering the
pet care segment?
Currently, we are solely focussed on
pet nutrition. The vastness of the
knowledge acquisition effort with
the challenges to create awareness is
keeping our hands full. There are good
people out there doing equally amazing
things in pet care space and we would
36
like to encourage and support them as
much as we can to create an inclusive
pet ecospace or community.
• What are your initiatives
towards the benefi t of stray
animals?
Helping the strays or community dogs
(as we like to call them) is one of our
primary goals. We closely work with
a few animal rescue organisations
with focus on their welfare. In our
own capacity, we regularly feed 20-
30 community dogs.
We have also come across many
good Samaritans who take care of
community dogs in their respective
area, but face time and resource
constraint. To assist these caregivers,
we provide nutritious dry meals at
highly subsidised rates.
• What advice do you have for
pet parents who choose to
cook for their pets at home?
There are two parts to nutrition –
feed right and feed good.
Though the nutrition part looks
complex, but the approach is simple.
The fi rst step is to acknowledge that a

pet is a living being, a family member
who requires equal nutritional care
as humans. The second step is to be
aware of the needs – it needs to be
appropriate as well as holistic, not
just a single source of information,
specially the age-old traditions and
beliefs. As more research data is
pouring in, we are realising how wrong
we have got the whole pet nutrition
care due to these misconceptions
and deliberate attempts to misguide
for commercial gains. Take a look at
the other sources of information –
veterinarians, canine nutritionists
and journals and never be hesitant to
ask questions.
Once the nutrition part is sorted,
providing that through fresh meals
is the best thing a pet parent can
do for their pet(s). Use natural and
fresh ingredients, avoid carbs and
starch fi llers to bulk up the meal - its
an investment that has long term
emotional and economical benefi ts.
If it is not possible to cook fresh food
frequently, we suggest to make the
meal in bulk (at least once a week);
portion it into individual meals and
freeze; thaw each portion before the
meal time and feed. These meals
can preferably be fortifi ed with a
pinch of fresh herbs like parsley,
mint, moringa etc. Use golden paste
and a few drops of omega oils before
serving.
