body to control the quality of these
products. To make things worse,
there are not enough opportunities
for a new pet parent to learn the
facts about canine health either,
hence, they fall for the marketing of
these products. Words like “pro, breed
specifi c, approved nutrition plan”
etc. are cleverly used in infl uencing
them to buy these products. Though
convenient and cheap, these
products have a long term effect
on our pet’s health. We, at Canine
Craving, are trying to bring the focus
on the importance of nutrition and
the benefi ts of food products. Slowly,
pet parents are becoming aware of
the rising cost of pet healthcare and
the long term benefi ts of feeding the
right quality food at higher price than
commercial food.
Lack of purpose: Due to rapid
urbanisation and nuclear families,
the living space for everyone is
shrinking and the same is applicable
to our pets. There isn’t enough
physical or mental stimulation
available in the confi nement of our
homes. This is resulting in boredom
and frustration in pets, ending up
in behavioural and socialisation
issues. We tend to help the pets in
this through our range of chews. It
helps them to exercise their muscles,
stimulate their mind and relax, not to
forget the benefi ts of nutrition that
can be found in each of these chews.
• Canine Craving also offers
chicken bones for dogs.
However, they are not
advisable for dogs. Please
share your views.
All bones are not same as each of
the type has a different role to play.
Hence, at Canine Craving, we use
the most appropriate type that are
softer, provide the benefi t of chewing
usage. The advantage of dehydrated
food can be summarised as
Dense nutrition and fl avour-
dehydrated food is fresh, rich
(condensed
nutrition
without
moisture) and delicious.
as well as nutrition such as chicken
neck and feet. We don’t use the bones
that are hard to break or splinter
easily such as drums/thigh bones,
causing damage to internal organs or
blockage.
Additionally, we don’t cook our
bones at high temperature, as that
compromises the mineral structure
of the bones. Our products are
dehydrated at low temperature for
longer period to extract the moisture
but keep the meat and bone closest
to their natural form. This helps to
prevent the bone from breaking into
sharp splinters, rather they crumble
due to their honey comb structure
when chewed, cleaning the teeth and
exercising the jaw muscles. Apart
from the bone minerals, meat and/
or cartilage provide the additional
nutrition.
• What kind of processing
techniques does Canine
Craving use to manufacture
its products? What are their
benefi ts?
Majority of our products are
dehydrated. This process has health
benefi ts, while being an environment
friendly method of production.
The food is dehydrated using a
dehydrator at low temperatures for
long duration of time to preserve
maximum nutrition.
The correct food dehydration method
depends on what is being dehydrated,
which has come through research and
experience through many years of
Ease of storage and reduces waste-
dehydrated food has a longer shelf
life, when done correctly and kept in
proper conditions.
Portable- these healthy fresh foods
can be taken along while travelling
for short duration without the need
for refrigeration.
• From where does Canine
Craving procure the
ingredients used to
manufacture its line of pet
food products?
Our ingredients are sourced locally
from reputed suppliers that supply to
the best hotels and restaurants. The
quality requirement is clearly laid
out with the suppliers, no deviation
is accepted.
