Alam ya jidka yateeman fa aawaa Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge? Allah gives us reason to believe His above declarations, this is His proof that He will fulfil His promises. Did Allah not create us and give us life? Is He not responsible for our Rizq since birth? Did He not ensure our happiness in previous times? Did we not once overcome this feeling of sadness because of Allah? The grammar used shows a rhetorical distinction, for example, if someone asks you a question and you answer them with a question – it shows proof (Do you promise you will pick me up at 4 pm? “Don’t I always pick you up at 4 pm?) Allah says to the messenger (SAW) “Didn’t I find you an orphan and gave you refuge?” This is His proof that He will provide as He has provided before. Allah has done so much for us in our lives, how can we not believe that He will continue to give us as long as we ask. Subhan Allah! Allah has been our sole means of success so many time before; when He found us mislead or misguided and He guided us back to Islam. When He found us straying from His path, the path of success, did He not cause us to see our errors and guide us back to Him. For our revert brothers and sisters, did He not find you and guided you to a path of righteousness? Wa wa jadaka daal lan fahada* And He found you lost and guided [you]. ‘Daal’ is used to represent a state of being lost, not that the Prophet (SAW) was lost but Allah found Him and gave him the blessing of being the Last and Final Messenger of Allah. As long as we continue to search for success, Allah will find us searching and guide us. Allah will grant us the hidaya and bring us back to the straight path and to Him. Alhamdulillah! Wa wa jadaka ‘aa-ilan fa aghnaa And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient. We have all had times of doubt and struggle financially and would have done something to alleviate our situation. Being here today is proof that we overcame it, but understanding that the provision came from Allah (SWT) alone is what matters. Allah gave us the ability to overcome our debt, our financial struggle and made us self-sufficient. Many Arabic words can be used to dictate poor, however, the word ‘aa-ilan’ is used. This can describe a feeling of being crushed, so Allah says ‘he found you crushed and made you free of need’. Allah gives us rizq, no matter what we do to alleviate our situation or earn that wealth, it is always provided by Allah (SWT).
