Strength of mind, body and soul are powerful
tools in the challenge of life; it doesn’t
matter what situation is thrown at me, my
attitude must reflect strength determination,
confidence and positivity. I will not talk
down to myself, but I will find my purpose of
the task and convince myself firstly what is
expected. I know that people are influenced
and they support decisiveness, determination
and confidence. I will not allow doubts and
Satan to determine my path, but I will take the
prophetic attitude and control my Nafs (my
inner self).
When you have decided on a course of action,
put your trust in God: God loves those who put
their trust in Him. [Quran 3:159]
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) was commanded
to testify that he was the
Messenger of Allah. He had to
assert his own belief in himself
for the role he was entrusted
before he was able to propagate
the message. In following this
guidance with firm belief, I
trust that after my plan, and
efforts, what has to happen,
will be. I acknowledge that
I do not have the wisdom of
Allah, nor the control over the
entirety of existence. However,
I acknowledge that failure is
not a listed option, hence it
cannot be entertained, and
whatever direction life takes
me; Allah is looking at the
way I navigate my belief and
attitude in myself.
So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you
will be superior if you are [true] believers.
[Quran 3:139]
Deal with the losses!
I am not alone! There is a famous Arabic
statement that supports this thought;
“A difficulty when it becomes common (to
everyone), it is lighter to bear.”
The reality is that I will face losses, and I
will be faced with hardships, but I know that
it is not unique to me. Humanity has been
overcoming challenges throughout history.
If a wound should touch you - there has
already touched the [opposing] people a
wound similar to it. And these days [of varying
conditions] We alternate among the people so
that
Allah may make evident those who believe and
[may] take to Himself from among you martyrs
- and Allah does not like the wrongdoers.
[Quran 3:140]
This principle is laid out for me in the Battle
of Uhud. When the Muslim army suffered
many losses, Allah almighty reminded that it is
not only the Muslims that experienced losses.
Remember that not everyone gains from their
losses in the same way. I must, therefore, take
extreme ownership of my reality; the faster I
do this, the quicker I can find a solution and
devise a plan for my current situation and
hurdles.
Prophetic routine!
My routine needs to be prophetic. The
Messenger of Allah (SAW)
disliked having futile
discussions and activities after
the Esha salah (night prayer).
Following this behaviour, I
need to go to bed early. I should
not find myself indulging with
Netflix or any other type of
harmful poison. In fact, he ﷺ
rebuked his companions for
doing futile activities after
the night prayer. His nightly
routine was simple; he would
make wudhu and go to bed
promptly. I can adopt this habit
and live a more prophetic life.
Proper sleep hygiene, allows
for a more productive morning
routine. By employing this
habit, I improve my relationship with Allah,
and I recognise that my problems aren’t bigger
than Allah.
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “He
who offers the dawn (Fajr) prayers will come
under the Protection of Allah. O son of Adam!
Beware, lest Allah should call you to account
in any respect from (for withdrawing) His
Protection.” [Muslim]
My plan must be focused and detailed. My
morning routine of salaah (prayer), and dhikr
(remembrance of Allah), will be possible by
waking up early. This routine will allow for
a fresh and productive start to my day filled
with a fresh dose of dopamine to get me
re-energised.
I must WAKE UP EARLY. I know it sounds
painful, but I will reframe my thinking; I am
a morning person, I need to break free of
my chains which are holding me back from
fully experiencing life. My morning routine
