will allow me to experience the protection of Allah, the presence of the angels, and to begin my
day refreshed and ready for productivity. I intend to wake up early, it is not simply a task. It is me
dominating the start of my day and preparing for productivity.
Whenever Allah’s Messenger (SAW) went to bed, he would say:”
O Allah, it is with Your Name that I live and it is with your Name that I die.” And when he got up he used
to say:” Praise is due to Allah, who gave us life after our death (sleep) and unto Thee is resurrection.”

It is Allah who gave me life again after he has given me death (sleep is the sister of death). I am not
achieving a finite undertaking but an on-going daily battle and goal. Therefore, I must plan every
step of the way. I’ll need a checklist, healthy meal choices, exercise and not forget to include my
family in that plan. I will let them know my resolutions, changes in life and newfound drive. I’ll
inform them that I am not looking for comfort and ease anymore but I am looking for meaningful,
active pursuit of my potential.
I will observe and investigate the dynamics of the most influential person in the human history; he
was an orphan who did not have privilege, his life affects billions but started humbly in a desert,
certainly, I have to look deeper into his life. From pre-dawn prayer to discussing dreams and advice
with the companions until sunrise, the prophetic morning is filled with many more breakthroughs
that are beneficial.
When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, left the morning prayer, he
would say, “Has any of you had a dream last night? All that will remain of prophecy after me will be
the true dream.” [Muwatta ibn Malik]
The literary world is laden with books designed to help me overcome challenges, with titles that
deal with our current predicaments of staggered failing economies, oversubscribed medical needs
and even our current global lockdown. However, as a Muslim, my lifestyle choices have been
predetermined by Allah and orchestrated by the noblest of souls, which makes the journey easy to
tread.
When I follow my Islamic and Sunnah guidance, I can guarantee there won’t be any hurdle too big to
overcome.
