point that it was no longer a metric that the company was “ steering the business for ”.
He added : “ It is more looking at where do we make players , in what markets and then looking at what anticipated cashflow do we then make in the quarter and that we can see that we keep growing that part .
“ So also going forward , it will not be the amount of players that will matter , but it will be that we [ deliver ] players in the right countries .”
DIVERSIFY
Like the other large entities in the affiliate space , it is clear Gentoo is also looking at diversification of revenues . “ To make it very simple , more markets , more websites and more customers should drive revenue to mitigate risk and ensure sustained growth ,” he said .
He noted that Gentoo has around 150 websites within its portfolio . The non-top 5 websites combined grew at around 45 % year-on-year and 10 % sequentially and now account for 68 % of total revenue . Meanwhile the top 5 grew 24 % year-on-year , level sequentially and were worth a combined 32 % of quarterly revenue .
“ What we can see here is that more and more websites contribute to the party and sort of drives the revenue going forward ,” Warrer said . “ In a market and in the marketplace where a lot of things can happen , this is part of our strategy .”

In terms of partners , Warrer noted the total is now up to 296 , a number that Gentoo would still like to see go up .
“ Of course , we also want to work with the right partners in each market that are performing the best and have the best player values ,” he said . “ So there ’ s probably a limit to how many partners you can work with . But going forward , it will still be a focus to try to have as broad a partner base as possible .”

One particular success story for Gentoo has been the acquisition of AskGamblers from Catena Media and where Gentoo hopes to soon launch into sports betting . Warrer said the company was “ very excited ” about the potential of what he revealed would be a global launch .
