Better Collective Through the doors

PART TWO

If there is an explanation for why Better Collective went down the media partnership route , it perhaps lies in the data it provides each quarter for the number of consumers it is sending to its customers .
The new depositing customer number – the NDC count – doesn ’ t explain the whole business and can at times be a misleading indicator . But it remains the best measure the market has for adjudging what level of future revenues a company can hope to achieve .
If the flow through of customers remains on the up , then in broad brush terms , the company is likely to see growth in the coming quarters . Importantly , this is regardless of whether those customers are on CPA deals ( i . e . upfront payments ) or on recurring revenue arrangements .
So to Better Collective ’ s NDC totals , and as can be seen in the charts , all is not well . The absolute totals remain impressive and very much point to the scale of Better Collective ’ s operation . But the direction of travel for this particular juggernaut is not so positive .
The company is still generating huge numbers with some 450,000 customers coming through the doors during the first three months of the year . But as can be seen , this represents a 7 % sequential decline and an 8 % year-on-year fall . When asked about the impact of Google ’ s demotion of media partnerships ( see part 1 ) on the numbers , CEO Jesper Søgaard said on the call with analysts that the company wouldn ’ t comment on the mix of media partnership NDCs versus those coming in from owned-and-operated sites .
