Remember D-Day

and Canada's Role in World War Two

Canada's role in World War Two was equal to any other nation that was in WWII. When France fell, Canada's navy supplied Great Britian and fought off wolf packs of Hitler's submarine, the U-boat. On June 6th, 1944, Canada participated in the largest seaborne invasion ever in history. Canada had the second-hardest beach, Juno Beach. Naval artillery did their best, but many shells went too far inland in the fear of hitting their own troops that were going ashore. In fact, 80% of the defenses were still intact. Paratroopers landed far inland, but many were miles away from their proper target. Miraculously, they managed to hold onto the bridges they were told to capture, and allied forces finally linked up with them.
