After Juno beach, came Caen. Caen was defended by many Nazi defenses, and the Canadian 2nd Armoured Division had great difficulty penetrating the forified defenses. Including the Tiger. The Tiger was a German heavy tank, that was inpenetrable from any side other than the roof or the back of the tank. The tanks were fighting in Bocage countryside. This place soon proved to be a formidable place to defend and launch ambushes. Fighting in Caen was fierce. Every single house was fought for. Even every room. The town was soon all rubble from artillery and bombers. It took a total of about 3 whole months to finally supress all resistance in Caen. Even after the war, most of the town was still rubble.
