The Committee created a resolution that reaffirmed
bias-free employment practices and increased law
enforcement awareness and enhanced the response to hate
crimes and those criminal acts motivated by bias (IACP
Board of Directors).
John Dale participated in a press conference to
support state legislation designed to expand
current hate crime laws and provide for mixed
motive incidents in Florida.
The Committee reviewed the Model Policy on Interacting
with People with Intellectual and Developmental
Disabilities and the Model Policy on Harassment and
Discrimination in the Workplace.
The IACP and the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights
Under Law joined together to establish the "Enhancing the
Response to Hate Crimes" Advisory Committee.
Police Explorers experienced a record number of 50
mentor/mentee pairings during the annual conference.
Will Johnson participated
in the Arlington Ministerial
Alliance Praise Festival
focusing on strength and
unity through compassion,
love, and diversity.
Cynthia Deitle participated in a Diversity and
Inclusion Panel with IACP member David
Rauschenberg at the University of Tennessee Institute
for Public Service. She also was on a panel at the ADL's
Leadership Summit
Carmen Best participated in and coordinated a panel
discussion on de-escalation and dispute resolut ion for the
community.
