hroughout the day, we hiked, sat by the fire, played in the snow, and eagerly awaited dinner. We were at the top of the mountain overlooking the sunset on the horizon when we heard a loud bell ring to inform everyone that it was dinnertime.

“Finally,” said Carley. “I am absolutely starving!

I looked at her and said, “I couldn’t agree more.”

“I wonder what we're gonna eat?”Johnny said.

Savannah replied, “I’m almost positive we are having a hobo dinner!”

“No way! Those are my favorite when I go camping!” Caroline exclaimed in excitement.

Grant whispered to Johnny, confused, “What in the world is a hobo dinner?”

“Guess you’ll find out soon enough,” replied Johnny.

With the thought of the delicious hobo dinner in the back of our minds, we started hiking back to the cabin to feed our growling stomachs.

Finally, when we made it back, we could see the fire and smell the delicious dinner waiting for us.

Thank goodness, we didn’t have to cut the wood and set up the fire again, I thought selfishly.

After dinner, it came time to huddle around the fire, bundled up in multiple layers of clothing and blankets, listening to the delightful sound of guitars played by Grant and Cody. We sang numerous country, Christian, and alternative songs while surrounded by the warmth radiating from the fireplace.

At this moment, I had a realization.

Whoa, I haven’t focused on my phone or even thought about it since chopping firewood this morning! Instead, I have surrounded myself with my friends and embraced the life happening around me.

I smiled and wrapped the blanket tighter. I wasn’t ready to come to terms with the fact we were leaving and going back home tomorrow.
