The Białowieski National Park
The National Park is situated in the north-east part of Poland, in
podlaskievoivodeship. The Park covers the central part of Białowieża Forest.
Its beginnings can be traced back to 1921, when the “Reserve” forestry was
created at the place currently occupied by the Park. In 1932, the „Reserve”
forestry was transformed into „National Park in Białowieża”. In 1947 the unit
was reinstated as Białowieża National Park, and under the same name
functions until today.
The Park covers the area of 10 517,27 ha, which constitutes 1/6 of the Polish
part of Białowieża Forest.–Paulina Obara

SoliNskie Lake
The salt mine in Wieliczka
If you want to have some rest nearby the lake, experience
beauty of nature barely even touched by mankind, you
should visitSolina Lake in the south-eastern part of
Subcarpathia, Poland.Even though the lake itself was
created as a result of dam built in 1960 on the San River,
The Bieszczady Mountains around it make that place look
like a piece of Elysium. There are several majorly touristic
towns around Solina so even in the middle of season finding
a comfy bed wouldn’t be a problem.Anyone could find
something for himself there – the view of mist going down
the mountains to cover the lake in the morning, many
mountain trails a man could follow to find serenity in a
secluded spot among the trees and of course the lake itself
which is a great place for sailing, kayaking or swimming. It is
very close to Slovakian and Ukrainian border so having a
quick trip to the neighbour would be possible. I, personally,
have been there once and to be honest, I look forward to
visiting that amazing piece of Poland again. – Wojtek
Skoczek
The “Wieliczka” Salt Mine is one of the most valuable
monuments of material and spiritual culture in Poland.
Each year it is visited by more than one million tourists
from all over the world.
PAGE 24
It is also a world class monument, featuring among
twelve objects on the UNESCO’s World Cultural and
Natural Heritage List. Today, the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine
combines many centuries of tradition and modernity,
the history of several hundred years and an
underground metropolis with extensive infrastructure.
The mine is a product of work of tens of generations
of miners, a monument to the history of Poland and to
the Polish nation – a brand, present in Polish
consciousness for centuries.-Paulina Obara
