HISTON FC HOW THEY LINED UP LAST TIME OUT HISTON 0 HARROGATE TOWN 1 League & Cup Results Saturday 15th February 2014—Skrill North Callum Kitscha Highly rated young keeper who signed a new contract in the summer keeping him at Bridge Road for at least another year. Initially signed by David Livermore in the summer of 2011, chances were few and far between but the stopper finally got his chance under Dennis Greene at the start of last season. Following a tough start to the campaign the youngster went on loan to Walton & Hersham in October before returning, confidence restored, in December to make the Number 1 shirt his own. Only now just 20 years old, Kitscha’s performances in the second half of last season were vital in helping the team pick up the necessary points to avoid relegation and the young keeper looks to have a very bright future indeed. Harry O’Malley 3rd Year Scholar that was a key part of the Under 18 and Under 19 teams last year. Given his chance in the First Team at the start of this season after regular right back Zak Mills was ruled out with injury and has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Numerous impressive performances in the senior side have made him a regular starter and the 19 year old already looks accomplished at senior level. Peter Grant Initially joined the club on a Youth Loan from Peterborough United in early September and impressed at the heart of the defence before being recalled by the Posh at New Year after 19 appearances. The young Scot re-signed for the Stutes in February though on another Youth Loan deal and will be looking to pick up from where he left off at Bridge Road. Will De Havilland 19 year old defender signed on loan from Millwall in February following the departure of Remy Clerima to Brackley Town. A regular in the Lions Under 21 Development Squad, the youngster signed his first pro deal in the summer of 2013 and had a brief spell with tenants Cambridge City in January before signing at Bridge Road. Omar Beckles 21 year old central defender signed by Manager Brian Page in the summer of 2013 to add strength and physical presence to the heart of the defence. He moved to Glenn Hoddle’s Academy in Spain after leaving Millwall before returning to the UK with spells at Boreham Wood and Kettering Town and ending last season with Billericay Town in Conference South. Jay Dowie Combative midfielder and ex Histon Scholar that has now firmly established himself as a key player in the heart of the midfield. A number of niggling injuries have hampered his progress over the last couple of seasons but the 21 year old is now 100% fit and signed a new contract in the summer of 2013, committing himself to the Stutes for at least another year. Now with 59 (14) appearances to his name he added goal scoring to his cv last season, striking 3 times from distance in spectacular fashion. Lewis Taaffe Originally a striker, the midfielder/forward progressed through the youth ranks and cemented his First Team place last season with a number of impressive performances on the right hand side. Scored a stunning long range volley at Nuneaton Town last season and added another 9 to get to double figures by the end of 2011-12. Suffered a broken bone in his foot in the last game of last season and has only just returned to the starting XI, making his 50th senior start against Bradford Park Avenue and reminding everyone of what they had been missing in his absence. Grant Roberts Another young player that joined the Club looking for a chance to show what he can do, Roberts is now into his third season at Bridge Road. He originally found a starting place hard to secure in midfield but got a chance at right back covering injuries midway through 2011-12 and excelled in the unfamiliar role. That versatility seemed to work against him though as he found himself covering others in various positions before finally getting an extended run in the holding midfield role midway through last season, a position that he has since made his own. Signed his first contract with the Club in the summer and had notched up 65(17) appearances in a Histon shirt by the start of this season. Seedy Nj
