Page 3 Ask Nery! By: Nery Chavez Ask Nery: Can our school be three stories or more to accommodate the 4,000 students on the waiting list. Dear Jakob: That actually sounds like a really good idea, but it’s not my decision whether our school decides to build up. First, our school would need the money, and the project itself would take months. Our school is very crammed, even with our new high school building. Also think about the parking problems and all the traffic it would cause, if our school accepted 4,000+ kids! It would be crazy! Ask Nery: How do you like being in the Yearbook class? Dear Anonymous: I honestly really enjoyed being on the Yearbook/Newspaper team at HSD. I got to talk to a lot of teachers and students who I wouldn’t normally talk to, which is good and bad because now everybody knows me. It was a good experience being on the team because all of us had to work together as a team to meet deadlines, and all the revising and editing that had to be done was a big headache. I won’t be in this class next year so I wonder who will take on my “Ask Nery” and make it their own? Ask Nery: When and where are you going to college? Dear Anonymous: I will (hopefully) graduate in 2016, so I will be starting college in the fall of that year. My dream college is Georgetown University in Washington D.C. to study International Relations or Business. But I do not know if I will get accepted into Georgetown so I have a lot of other options in mind. It’s crazy to think that in two years I will graduate and leave this school. It will be a very bittersweet moment because I’ve attended HSD since 7th grade, but also starting my life and getting out of this uniform will be very joyful. The Life of a Science Teacher By: Walee Khan “Finish your work or jump off a building my dear students,” is his motto of life. Mehmet Sevinc uses humor to connect with his students. He influences his pupils to a great extent. Sevinc gets up at 6 o'clock every morning, he says his prayers to God and then eats his breakfast. This is Mehmet Sevincs’ daily life. Q: What time do you come to school? Sevinc: Sometimes I’m late but I usually get here around 7:30. Q: What time do you leave school? Sevinc: I leave whenever I want, just kidding around 5 to 6… Q: Why did you choose to become a teacher? Sevinc: I want to change the world. Ask Nery: How do you get through middle school? Dear Anonymous: This is a very hard question to answer because I attended Cardiff Jr. High in 6th grade and came to HSD beginning 7th grade. It was kind of difficult for me to adjust to uniforms, DPS, and all the homework, but overall middle school wasn’t all that hard. Middle school is just an awkward stage, and the things that happen in middle school will not be relevant when you get to high School or college. Just make sure you do your work and ma
