How to Coach Yourself and Others Better Coaching Through Visualisation | Page 19
the senses to create positive and soothing feelings, which can greatly
enhance the power of visualizations.
3. Close your eyes and relax. Take in a few deep breaths. Breathe in
and out slowly for 10 times to attain maximum relaxation.
4. Start to see in your mind's eye, the thing you want, in as much
detail as possible (as you practice and get better at visualizations, see
if you can make the picture brightly colored, sharply focused,
framed, containing sound, action and feeling).
5. Step into the picture and energize it with 5 big breaths.
6. Make an affirmation sub-vocally, to put the event in present tense
and make it real. Gain the feeling of actually achieving what you
want. Say to yourself, “This is mine, right now!”.
You might like to vary your visual pictures, depending on your
mood. Some people love the visual picture of being on a beach;
others prefer the mountains in a snowstorm! Use your imagination
and treat yourself to visualizations that bring you maximum
relaxation and positive feeling.
It's important to visualize with as much detail and using as many
senses as possible. For example, if you want a new car, specify the
kind in detail, see yourself driving the car, feel the steering wheel
and be aware of the instrument panel, the texture of the seats and
everything else about it that you want.
Visualization should be done regularly and may be consistently
reinforced if done either first thing in the morning or last thing at
night. You may wish to make your own audiotape. If you don't like
your own voice, ask someone else to make a tape for you.
Visualization is a powerful process and can overcome past negative
programming.
