Student residents are responsible for ensuring their smoke detectors continue to work properly. Student residents should test the smoke detectors on a monthly basis. Contact the director of student housing operations or designee immediately if a smoke detector starts “chirping” or is not working properly. Do not disable smoke detectors. Disabling a smoke detector or removing working batteries is a misdemeanor offense, and violators are not only subject to fines and disciplinary action, but also legal prosecution and eviction. Soliciting No advertising, campaigning, recruiting, selling, or soliciting is allowed in Collin College Student Housing unless the director of student housing operations has granted prior approval. If a student resident encounters a solicitor, he or she should notify the director of student housing operations or designee immediately. Student residents should never purchase anything from a solicitor or let anyone they do not know into their apartment. Distribution of Collin College Student Housing and Collin College-related material by the director of student housing operations or designee is allowed. Street, Road, and Traffic Signs All pedestrians, drivers, motorcyclists, bicyclists, skate/long boarders, hover boarders, and scooter riders must comply with traffic signs. Street and road signs are considered the property of the respective government agencies, and any inappropriate removal or possession by unauthorized individuals may result in judicial or legal action. Individuals possessing street and road signs may be requested to provide proof of ownership. 2019-2020 Collin College Resident Handbook Student Code of Conduct All student residents are responsible for conducting themselves in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of others or interfere with the educational functions of Collin College. All student residents are expected to know and comply with the current Student Code of Conduct. Allegations of Student Code of Conduct violations will be reported to the Dean of Students Office for appropriate disciplinary action.
