Nazca, Arequipa & Colca Canyon Northern Peru Empire

These regions play an important part to Peru’s history alongside its Inca
counterparts. The colossal Andean Condor Bird located in the Colca
Canyon with a wingspan of up to six metres will leave you speechless.
Draw your own conclusions about the mysterious Nazca Lines, the
flight over is nothing short of spectacular. As you fly high above, you
constantly ask yourself 'how'? Off the beaten track and away from the tourists, Northern Peru is
truly magical and worth considering if you have an eye for history.
Visit Chiclayo and Trujillo Cities which are both important in Peru’s
upbringing, among other small towns that will give you a fascinating
insight into the real Peru. It is astonishing to visit these sites and
watching archaeologists while they work.
Day 1: Lima
Arrive in Lima and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a half day city tour. Day 1: Trujillo
Arrive in Trujillo and transfer to your hotel. Get your first taste of the
architectural richness of colonial Trujillo admiring the magnificent Plaza
de Armas, considered one of the largest and most beautiful squares in
the country. Stroll along calle Pizarro until you reach the House of the
Emancipation, a Republican Neoclassical architectural treasure. The
afternoon is free to enjoy Trujillo.
Day 2: Lima – Paracas
Depart Lima for Paracas, a beautiful bay rich in marine life and ancient
mysteries. Stop at Pachacamac Ruins along the way.
Day 3: Nazca Lines
Enjoy a fantastic sunrise through the Islas Ballestas, a nature reserve
packed with birds and sea lions. Head to the city of Pisco, where you will
fly over the famous Nazca Lines. More than 20 figures occupy an area of
approx 500km².
Day 4: Paracas – Lima – Arequipa
Return to Lima then fly to Arequipa (additional cost). Enjoy an Arequipa
city tour, also visiting Santa Catalina Monastery. Overnight in Arequipa.
Day 5: Arequipa – Colca
Drive through a land of snow-covered volcanoes, pampas and incredibly
beautiful quaint villages, arriving in the Colca Valley. Overnight in Colca.
Day 6: Colca
Visit Condor Cross Lookout with its breath-taking landscape, considered
to be the best spot to see the majestic Andean Condor. Return to
Arequipa passing through quaint villages along the way.
Day 2: Sun & Moon Pyramids, Chan Chan and Huanchaco
Visit the Sun and Moon Pyramids, then move on to the workshop of
a local artisan and observe techniques used by ancient inhabitants
to produce works of ceramics, leather and wood. Continue through
northern Peru’s history as you visit Chan Chan, meaning Sun Sun. Drive
to Trujillo’s best known seaside resort, Huanchaco. Historically, intrepid
fishermen have braved the oceans waves in vessels made from totora
reeds. Overnight in Trujillo.
Day 3: Trujillo – Chiclayo
Road transfer to Chiclayo, visiting the two large pyramids of Huaca
el Brujo and Huaca Cao. Gaze at the Lady of Cao mummy, her skin
completely covered in snake and spider tattoos.
Day 7: Arequipa
Transfer to Arequipa Airport where your arrangements end. Day 4: Chiclayo
A day of sightseeing including visits to the Cracked Pyramid
Archeological Complex and the Roy al Tombs Museum where The Lord
of Sipan tomb rests. Your arrangements will end at either Chiclayo Town
or Chiclayo Airport in the afternoon.
