Event Design & Planning
The original concept for the event was an outdoor obstacle course for Sheffield locals. However due to a lack of funds this wasn't possible, therefore the decision was made to change it to a Race Night with a unique twist.
The main focus was to provide a different perspective of youth homelessness and break the stigma associated with homelessness. To do this, special discounted tickets were available for those who signed up to the Roundabout Newsletter. Leaflets and flyers were displayed on the tables to provide further information to attendees and the representatives from Roundabout talked to attendees about the charity.
It was agreed by VERITAS that attendees should feel like theywere at the races and had a clear understanding of what the event was in aid of. This was achieved by using decorations and props from a local events company that run these types of events on a regular basis and displaying Roundabout publications around the room.
"The first step when planning any event is to look at the big picture." (Allen, 2008)
