I was excited to be asked to join the Jarrod Cunningham Sports Academy this year as I had heard so much about this experience . Being in this Academy has helped grow my awareness and knowledge of nutrition , leadership , teamwork and build lifelong skills . This has been through strength and conditioning training , yoga / mindfulness sessions and times when we would sit down and talk about our goals and how to achieve them . The Academy has helped me learn about activities that I have overlooked in the past . I felt after each session I would always walk away knowing more than what I knew prior to walking in . Due to the disruptions of COVID-19 we have had a shorter time period than expected , yet I still strongly believe that I have furthered and developed my understanding as an athlete and will continue to strive to reach for my potential , knowing that this involves continual learning . I cannot honestly think of one highlight , but each time I walk into the gym me . What I do know is that whatever it is will help me progress not only as an athlete but as a better person too .

The junior members of the Jarrod Cunningham Sports Academy recently visited the EIT Institute of Sport and Health at the Regional Sports Park . We started with some group games that focused on team building , participation and combined body and mind movements . Amelia talked about mobility , coordination , stability and posture . These are all really important to be able to perform well in any chosen sport . Roy also talked to us about the science of sport , including what your body is doing while playing sport . Finally , we also learned about the different components of strength and conditioning . It was a very interesting visit and we were lucky to have the opportunity to be able to
