Although the 2020 season has not been all we had expected at the start of the year , the HNHS Senior A still made the most of the playing time we had this year . Under the guidance and coaching of Jamie Richardson for the third year , we had a very successful adjusted season . We started the year with four returning players from the 2019 season . This provided us with a strong core to build this year ’ s team around . We had a bunch of Year 11 ’ s and one Year 10 join the team this year meaning we were a reasonably young and inexperienced ������������������������������������������������������� a lot of enthusiastic and new players that were excited to learn and experience playing in the top league . We also had two players in myself and Libby Charlton who played in the Hawke ’ s Bay Under-18 team for a revised representative season . We began our training just before �������� ���� ����� ��������� ��� ����� ���������� ���� �� ����� to our progress as a unit , but we used the separation as �������������������������������������������������������� challenges , competitions and team meetings through our facebook page . This helped us bond during this time and meant that when we got out of lockdown and back onto the court it felt like we had been together the whole time and there was no evidence of a six week separation . We began competition play in mid-July which was two months later than what it usually is . We started strong in ������������������������������������������������������������ match up against Napier Girls ’ High School . This meant �������������������������������������������������������� ���������������������������������������������������������� �������������������������������������������������������� games with a close one point loss to Hastings Girls and then another close loss to Napier Girls . This resulted in a �������������������������������������������������������� House and , thankfully , by this time we had moved down to alert level one meaning that we were allowed ������������������������������������������������������ to the wire and we were very happy to get the win and secure third place in the Super 12 competition for 2020 �������������������������������������������������������� ��� �������� ������� ��� ���� ���� ����� ������� ���� ���� ��� ���� players including Jahna and myself . This bought plenty of emotion into our last game having played together for seven years . I would like to thank her for reminding me ������������������������������������������������������������ I couldn ’ t have done it without her . As a team , we would like to thank our amazing coach Jamie Richardson for the countless hours she has put into coaching and leading our team , as well as our awesome manager Mrs Onekawa who always had everything organised and sorted for us at practices and games . We couldn ’ t have had as good a season as we did without you guys . Another special thank you to one of our ex-HNHS Senior A players ; Molly Lee who did our game stats every week . Thank you for keeping us accountable . To the Senior A ; it has been an honour to captain the team this year and I have loved watching every single player grow and improve week in ��������������������������������������������������������� netball years , I am excited to see how far the team will go next year and I wish everyone the best of luck for their seasons to come .
