LEADERS ’ REPORT

Coming into 2021 , Miro House leaders Amira Gardiner and Flynn Dunkerley , with deputy leaders Charlotte McLagan and Ben Rush , were excited at a chance for Miro to regain the Patu after a narrow 2nd place in 2020 ended Miro ’ s two year winning streak . 2021 began with an incredible show of friendship , sportsmanship and leadership at the annual Year 13 Camp held at Riverbend - one of the highlights of the Year 13 experience . From camp we could tell we had a very strong group of Year 13 students . Despite just missing out on first place overall , Miro did well in all of the challenges we faced . From playing giant foosball to debating and from painting to

longball , our Year 13s showed we had a diverse range of skills that would work to our advantage throughout the year . Alongside our promising Kapa Haka performance , our winning ‘ talent show ’ themed skit was proof of the great character and commitment held by our house which would set us up strongly for the year ahead .
Swimming sports was the first entire house event of 2021 . It was fantastic to see huge participation in the full house events which included freestyle , backstroke and breaststroke as well as the whirlpool event and relays . Although finishing in 4th place wasn ’ t the best start to the year , it did show us that we had good numbers and that we would have to work extra hard from here on in to be in the running for the Patu . After swimming , we were determined to get back into contention for the Patu and athletics was a great event for us with massive efforts from the entire house . The individual efforts as well as
