MANAGERIAL CONTROL MANUAL THE RECALL PROCESS Initiation Once an issue has been lodged, it is necessary to begin the documentation process. The record keeping of the incidents will keep the process organized and demonstrate due diligence, in the event of legal action (in a court of law). The first step is investigating the issue.  Gather as much information as possible from the source of the issue.  Notify the Recall Team. The Team is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the product recall and is comprised of members from the different departments of the organization (Receiving, Shipping, Production, etc.).  Conduct a thorough investigation into the issue with the affected product.  Determine the nature and potential causes of the issue.  Determine if any other product(s) may be affected by the issue.  Complete the Recall Log.  Determine whether to generate a Product Recall, Product Withdrawal, or take No Corrective Action (where the issue is an isolated incident). Product Tracking Finished Product: product which is complete and either distributed or ready to distribute  Use the Recall Log to identify the affected product(s), PO Numbers/Work Orders and Quantities affected.  Use the Delivery Log to identify customers that have received the affected product.  Determine the inventory on-hand, segregate and label it immediately.
