Ronnie Null (170) center; with Leonard Cobb (128) QB; Don Goldsby (148) and Ronnie Jones (125) HB; with David Gerth (150) FB. Two players who were expected to figure heavily in Northeast’s opening night plans will miss the contest because of injuries. They are Buster Jellanc (170), first-string tackle and Mark Birdson (168), end. Both are expected to be ready for the Trojans’ second game with Decatur, September 21. Three of the big leading Southeast threats the Trojans will have to deal with Saturday night are Quarterback Billy McInnis and Halfbacks Roy Garrison and Ronnie Snyder. McInnis completed seven passes, good for 120 yards, against Clarkdale and Garrison lugged the football for 83 yards on the ground. Snyder scored the Tiger’s lone touchdown with an impressive five yard jaunt through the entire Clarkdale defense. The Northeast High School band will play during the game Saturday night and will conduct an interesting halftime show, another first for the school that was opened last year near the site of the old Ponta School. It’s been a long time coming. But the big night Northeast fans have anxiously awaited is close at hand now. A capacity crowd is expected to be on hand at the school Saturday night to watch the excitement. And welcome the Trojans home at last.
