FOR YOUR INSPIRATION
Leaving Behind Our Works
for God’s Good Works

S
ometimes I feel like I have to sched-
ule in time to serve God. And when
it comes to certain ministries, there
are situations where we do need
to plan ahead. But it is also easy to forget
that God has his own agenda, and that He
instructs us to seek after His ways.
I remember about 3 years ago, during
baseball season, my son dislocated his pinky
finger and fractured it through the growth
plate. For a boy about 10 years old at the
time, this was a very big deal. He would now
have to miss a number of his little league
6 HimPower July 2018
games, just when the season was revving up.
We were headed back home from his doctor
that day and stopped by the local neighbor-
hood market to pick up his prescription.
Pulling into the parking lot, we spotted a
small run down vehicle. In the driver’s seat,
sat a woman who was visibly distressed.
Concerned, I hesitantly approached her car,
seeking to be of help. She politely brushed
me off. Probably embarrassed by the atten-
tion of a stranger. So I went into the store,
picked up the prescription and headed back
to my parking spot. Yet, she was still there.
