Visitation Yields Transformation

I remember it , like it was yesterday , when the Lord distinctly called me to the nations . I was a junior in High School and was invited to visit Heidi Baker and the Iris team in Pemba , Mozambique . A transformation mission team from HIM , led by Pastor Mark Tubbs and my dad , were in Pemba doing healing crusades with Iris Global . Iris was in the beginning stages of developing their international ministry school . In those days there were no dorms , barely any running water , and no plumbing . Our team got a first-hand glimpse of the harsh day-to-day life of the local Mozambique people as we camped in 100-degree weather , in the back of the bush-bush . My time in Africa left an indelible impression on my heart , one that could never be replaced by any other experience . Suddenly , my heart burned for the poor and destitute , the children who lost their parents to AIDs , the demonically possessed , and those who were broken in spirit .
Flying back home from Pemba , Mozambique , I found myself completely depleted from what was diagnosed as malaria . Half-dazed and utterly dehydrated , I heard what could have only been the audible voice of God , saying , “ Mary , you will be a secular missionary to the world and you are going to reach many with the tools I will be giving you .” Immediately , I knew ( that I knew ) the Lord would be sending me to the nations as
