Free face-painting and children’ s activities will run throughout the evening, alongside amusement rides available for purchase.

And of course, no Australia Day celebration in The Hills would be complete without the impressive fireworks finale set against the beautiful heritage backdrop of Bella Vista Farm.

Celebrating culture, community and belonging

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, said the 2026 program continues Council’ s commitment to creating inclusive celebrations that bring residents together from all backgrounds and walks of life.

“ As The Hills Shire becomes an increasingly diverse community with more people born overseas than ever before, our Australia Day celebrations are booming in popularity,” Mayor Byrne said.

“ Increasingly it’ s our migrant communities who are turning up in big numbers to celebrate what it means to be Australian – a testament to the unifying nature of our events. I’ m proud that we can provide our residents with

an opportunity to come together on our nation’ s day at two family-friendly events.”

As part of the official proceedings, Council will welcome new Australian citizens during a formal citizenship ceremony at the Council Administration Building. Mayor Byrne said the ceremony is one of the most moving and symbolic parts of the day.“ It’ s an occasion these new citizens won’ t forget,” she said. Plan your day With thousands expected to attend, Council is encouraging residents to plan ahead. Limited parking will be available at Bella Vista Farm, however a free shuttle service will operate from Bella Vista Metro Station.
