POLITICS Berowra recipients of the 2025 King’ s Birthday Honours

with Julian Leeser MP Federal Member for Berowra
Each year, the King’ s Birthday Honours List recognises Australians who have distinguished themselves through exceptional service— be it to their community, the nation, or the world.
This year I was proud to be notified that nine members of our community were recognised.
In the General Division of the Order of Australia, Commodore Philip Stanford RAN
was appointed a Member of the Order( AM) for his exceptional service to the Australian Defence Force, particularly in submarine capability development and military workforce planning.
Miss Winsome Collingridge and Miss Edith Collingridge were both awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia( OAM) for their service to the Hornsby community. Professor Gerald Fogarty was recognised with an OAM for his service to medical research. Mr Dennis Perry received an OAM for his contributions to the community of
Papua New Guinea, while Mrs Bindi Shah was also honoured with an OAM for her service to the community through a range of roles.
In the Meritorious Awards Division, Mr Andrew Cameron received the Australian Fire Service Medal. Detective Chief Inspector Sotirios Courcoulos and Detective Superintendent Matthew Craft were both awarded the Australian Police Medal in recognition of their distinguished service.
Their work supports families, protects
lives, and ensures those who need it most don’ t get left behind. They are the people who often go without recognition, their achievements are a source of pride for our community.
I know many locals join me in warmly congratulating them on this well-deserved national recognition.
If there is someone in our community that you know deserves to be recognised, you can submit a nomination by visiting https:// www. gg. gov. au / australian-honoursand-awards / nominate-someone-award.

A modern musical exploring both sides of love

Castle Hill Players presents“ The Last Five Years” at the Pavilion Theatre by Jason Robert Brown and directed by Julian Floriano, Levi Burrows & Cassidy Donovan
Two young New Yorkers filled with ambition develop a powerful relationship full of love, laughter, and eventually heartache. This modern musical ingeniously chronicles the five-year life of a marriage, from meeting to break-up and from break-up to meeting.
Cathy, moving backwards in time, is a talented, yet struggling actress with a vibrant personality and deep passion for her craft whose perspective on love is deeply affected by her career and desire for affirmation. Jamie, moving forward in time, is a charismatic and ambitious writer whose early success sometimes leads him to make choices that strain those around him.
The Last Five Years was named one of TIME Magazine’ s ten best shows of 2001 and a film adaptation was released in 2014, starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan. This is sure to be a unique,

intimate production that will demonstrate the power of storytelling through song.
“ The Last Five Years is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical. Anyone who has ever loved, dreamed, or drifted apart will recognise pieces of themselves in Jamie and Cathy’ s story,” says Julian Floriano, Director
