Tinderbox Orchestra
Scotland’s premier youth music orchestra are delighted to close
Hidden Door with a special show marking the launch of their
debut album. Featuring contributions from hundreds of young
people, the record is the culmination of 7 years of pioneering
projects, productions and collaborations.
Drawing on the orchestra’s work
with the likes of Black Diamond
Express, Dawanggang and
Nigel Osborne, it combines
a ferocious energy
with an irreverent
approach to genre
and a real appetite
for exploration.
Transforming
preconceptions of
what an orchestra
looks and sounds like,
the record has already
received support from
the likes of Vic Galloway on
BBC Radio Scotland. Join the
movement!
kathryn Joseph
Prodigiously talented and criminally
underrated; Kathryn is one of Scotland’s
best-kept secrets. Her voice possesses
the other-worldly quality comparable to
Ms Newsom and Björk; but she is by no
means of an ilk. Better compared with
Anthony Heggarty; she is an artist in
every way; unique and soulful, and at the
core a beautiful unnerving truth.
Dawanggang
Dawanggang is a musical ensemble created by Song Yuzhe, an eclectic
musician from the North East of China. The music reaches far and broad,
from nomadic themes of Western China to broad experimental lines,
touching on folk tales and giving a big sense of space. The band is of
flexible composition and brings together musicians from all sorts of
musical, cultural, ethical backgrounds so as to reach beyond differences
and create new musical dimensions.

Justin Berkovi
This electronic maverick has been DJing and
releasing music for over 20 years. Refusing to be
pigeonholed Justin straddles the dark brooding
world of techno alongside the mesmeric beauty
of his deeper, more introspective tracks. He has
released on labels like Sativae Recordings and Djax
Up Beats and played at Tresor, Ministry of Sound
Berghain and more.
Main Ingredient
Main Ingredient are a collective of DJs and
producers who for the last 4 years have been
responsible for throwing some of the best
underground parties in and around Edinburgh.
From hosting legendary all night raves, to bringing
Detroit legends such as Juan Atkins and Gary Martin
to town, the Main Ingredient crew never fail to
impress with their impeccable tune selection and no
nonsense approach to partying in unusual locations.
Riot Jazz Brass Band
Riot Jazz Brass Band is a 9-piece brass
band made up of trumpets, trombones,
a sousaphone, drums and an MC. Their
unique mix of funk, soul, hip-hop and
aggressive jazz has propelled them into
one of the UK’s most exciting live acts
over the last decade.

LATE
Rival Consoles
London-based producer Ryan Lee West, better
known under the name Rival Consoles, has gained
a reputation for making thoughtful electronica
that spans a wide spectrum of musical ideas.
His consistent desire to create a more organic,
humanised sound sees West often draft early
ideas on traditional, acoustic instruments like the
guitar or the piano; forming pieces that capture a
sense of songwriting behind the electronics.
SomeChickcalledBob She bang Rave Unit
MIC DROP! The frontwoman and founder of The
Banana Sessions is taking to the wheels of steel
to spin you a nostalgic selection of hefty bangers,
total belters, and guilty pleasures. One woman. Two
turntables. So much filth, you’ll have to go home
and take a shower. Bring dance moves. She-Bang Rave Unit are DJs from Edinburgh who
know how to throw a party. The ‘Unit’- Abi, Kirstie
and Vicki – bonded over a love of Detroit techno,
house and electro. In 2010 the girls formed
She-Bang Rave Unit, since then they have been
causing damage on the dance floor to an ever
expanding crowd.
Rebecca Vasmant The Egg DJs
In an age increasingly dominated by faceless machine-created sounds, DJ-Producer Rebecca Vasmant is
bringing a fresh new twist to dance music with her love of jazz, the original form of unbridled spiritual sonic
expression. While promoting her own parties in Glasgow, starting her jazz record label Shiehallion and touring
the world for Ministry Of Sound, her whirlwind schedule has recently fitted in sessions with eight-strong
Ghanaian outfit Kakatsitsi, which will manifest as a live fusion show mixing traditional African rhythms with
modern dance ingredients; two strains of dancefloor-friendly catharsis joining together in a vibrant new
mutant. Leading the way in Edinburgh’s alternative nightclub
scene, The Egg hatches 3rd Saturday of every
month at Edinburgh College of Art’s ‘Wee Red Bar’.
Playing the finest in Indie, 60’s Garage & Soul, 70s
Punk & New Wave. Psych and more The Egg has
been heralded as one of the greatest Indie/Rock
nights in the country.
