AND SOCIAL JUSTICE, INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS STUDENT, JEREMY,
SEEMED DESTINED FOR A FUTURE IN THIS FIELD.
Jeremy kicked off his career in the Australian Public
Service when he applied for a job he didn’t have the
experience or qualifications for. Despite this, Jeremy
scored an interview because his application spiked
the hiring manager’s curiosity, due to his humility and
claim that he was willing to learn and ‘do whatever
needs to be done’, he ended up landing that job.
It was while working at the Department of
Immigration and Citizenship (now the department
of Immigration and Border Protection) where Jeremy
became passionate about the plight of refugees.
One of the greatest senses of achievement he gained
from his work was being part of a team that was
influential in rolling back some of the more repressive
immigration policies to people in dangerous countries.
