• Study when your phone has a flat battery to avoid distractions • Study on a full stomach so you don’t need to take lots of snack breaks (although Jeremy admits this doesn’t always work and he just ends up eating more than he would normally!) • When you come across statements that don’t seem to make sense, rephrase them in simplified, clear language to help you remember the information • Be the kid with the key: having a university degree opens many doors that would otherwise be closed to you, so skill up and suit up! ‘that old guy’. This was one of the reasons he decided to study online, rather than attend class on-campus when he and his wife moved to Toowoomba. However, after actually starting study, he realised that there were a lot of older students studying at USQ, so he enrolled into on-campus classes. Jeremy enjoys being able to share and debate with his peers face-to-face. He says, ‘At USQ, I get to study what I’m interested in, discuss topics with people I disagree with and know that they are enjoying it as much as I am’. A self-professed nerd who used to read atlases for fun as a child, Jeremy loves that at USQ ‘I can be as nerdy as I want and it is celebrated rather than being looked down on!’ Throughout his degree, Jeremy has stayed motivated by his desire to do well for his family, as well as for himself. He has two children, aged three and eleven months, as well as a beautiful wife. While having a family provides Jeremy with the motivation to achieve his dreams, it also makes it more challenging to find the time to study, especially when he works at two intern jobs as well. How does Jeremy find the time to study? He stays up late at night when the kids have gone to sleep. Jeremy is working towards a career that will allow him to create a more just and equitable future for all. You may have seen Jeremy and his wonderful family featured in USQ’s recent recruitment campaign
