The Super Cell

Did you know that there are billions of tiny living things working in your body right now? Uncountable numbers of them, yet you can’t see them with the nakeD eye. They are called cells. Cells are the basic unit of structure of EVERY living thing on Earth! They are also the smallest living things. New cells, producing in your body every second, come from preexisting cells. You could think of a cell as a productive factory. Each organelle has its own job, just like a factory! There are 12 organelles in cells! Nucleus, Ribosomes, Cell Membrane, Lysosomes, Centrioles, Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER), Golgi Apparatus, Vacuoles, Mitochondria, Cytoskeleton, Cell Wall, and Chloroplast.

So to start off, the nucleus would be the boss of the whole factory, it makes all the orders for the factory. Then the cytoskeleton would be the pillars and roof of the factory to keep the factories structure. Next, the ribosomes would be the factories machines which would create the factories products, proteins. Proteins get info how to be made from the boss and are formed in the Endoplasmic Reticulum or a mechanics room, to build the machines. The products would then be sent to the Golgi Apparatus, or the factories modifier, which adds the last touch to the products. Wouldn’t a factory need a source of energy? Thats where Mitochondria and chloroplast come in. The Mitochondria would be like a radiator that create energy to run the whole factory. The Chloroplasts would be sunroofs to collect sunlight energy to run the factory. The Vacuoles storage rooms, to store material that would later be used for making products. Lysosomes would be the cell’s recycling bins, to be reused to benefit the cell. Last, the Centrioles would be like secretaries for the boss. They help advise the nucleus with what to do with the cell.

Now you see how the cells can be compared to factories. There billions of tiny ‘factories’ helping your body. The factory holds several parts and splits them into roles to be more productive for itself.
