Although it may look as though we have a lot of staff leaving us, we also have some new staff who have been appointed to replace staff who are retiring or to provide additional support in certain areas. We would like to introduce you to our new staff. From September 2016 we are opening our own ‘Inclusion Area’ to provide support for students who are not always able to access the curriculum and to ensure that the learning of other students is not disrupted. Linda Sharp joins us in September as an official member of Heritage High School, but is not a stranger to the school, having worked with the staff and students through her role within Derbyshire County Council’s Behaviour Support Team. Science Faculty The Science Faculty have three additional teachers to replace the staff members who are leaving and to provide some additional support within the Science Faculty. Ms Waddington joins the school as Deputy Leader for Science. Ms Greenwood joins the school as Teacher of Science. Miss Holmes joins the school as Teacher of Science. Maths Faculty The Maths Faculty have a full time replacement for Mr Rowell and we welcome Ms Waterhouse to the school as a Teacher of Maths. English Faculty Changes to the staffing and additional support have led to there being vacancies for three new teachers in English and we welcome Mr McKay, Ms Hall and Ms Axton to the English team. Creative Faculty Mr Straw joins the school in September 2016 as a teacher of Technologies within the Creative Faculty and will be filling the position held by Mrs Smith for the last 35 years. He will be supported by Mrs Waddington who has transferred from her role as a Teaching Assistant to a Technician to support Mr Straw and the rest of the Creative team. Humanities Faculty We would also like to welcome Miss Ridley who joins the school in the Humanities Faculty and replaces Mr Ellams who left the school during the year. We welcome all of our new staff and wish you all every success at Heritage High School. Time to Say Farewell Mrs A Smith I thought I would send a short message to the community I have worked with for so long. I started at Clowne School in 1981 AND ,like many of you, I have seen great changes. I have enjoyed working with all the staff , students and parents I have met along the way. At parent consultation evenings I tend to spend a lot of time now reminiscing with parents I have taught. Although I have been here many years it does not seem that long. I have seen many students leave and I have been thrilled when I have met up with them and they tell me about what they are doing and how they have furthered themselves. I have always felt this is a strong community and the Heritage staff have always been caring and focused on helping the students to succeed. I shall watch from the sidelines and continue to take an interest in the progress of Heritage. Can I again say thankyou to you all for being supportive and I wish you all good luck in the future. The school is also saying goodbye to Beverley West who has worked as a technician in the food room for many years. Prior to this she was a lunchtime supervisor and a cleaner. She has also been responsible for many eyecatching displays before Mrs Newton took over the job. The school will miss Bev’s hard work. She has contributed to many afterschool activities – awards evenings , performances and has accompanied students on school visits. Many thanks for her dedication and hard work. We wish you well.
