GCSE Awards Evening
Mrs A McKee
On the evening of the 26th November, students, staff, parents,
primary headteachers and governors gathered to celebrate the
achievements of Year 11, 2015.
The acclaimed ‘Educating Yorkshire’ Headteacher, Jonny Mitchell
was the invited guest speaker. He reflected on the students
exam successes, recognising their determination to succeed and
wishing them well with their chosen career paths.
The opportunity to swap memories and share new post 16
experiences, closed a successful night of celebration.
MacArthur House
Miss L Moorhouse - Head of House Miss M O’Fee - Guidance Manager
As Christmas fast approaches students have been busy preparing for this
year’s dramatic production of Alice in Wonderland. Our very own Leona
McDounough-Smith is starring as Alice in what’s set to be a real festive
treat. The show is on the 9th, 10th and 11th December. Come and see it
to avoid having your head chopped off by the Queen of Hearts!

The Battle to be Vivo champion continues with
the current house leaders shown
below. As you can see Lauren Coleman
remains in the lead not only for
MacArthur house but also the entire school!
Great work Lauren and the rest of the
MacArthur top ten team, you’re helping
MacArthur retain that second position on the
school leader board.
Well done M-NC for leading the intra-house
quiz with 118 points, closely followed by
M-MW and M-KB.
A festive message from Miss Moorhouse
While I write this, the USA have been celebrating Thanksgiving so I thought I’d join in and share what
I am grateful for. Given the atrocities that have been happening over the world, there’s no better time
to remind ourselves of how lucky we are to have our health, friends and family. I am lucky to be surrounded
by amazing students, whose hard work, wit and personalities make every day different and interesting for me.
I am grateful to work with such hard working staff who make lessons challenging & fun and lend an ear to
listen and shoulder to cry on when they are needed. I am grateful for the warm home I go to every night and the
delicious food I’ll be cooking over the Christmas break. I know not everyone will be so lucky, so I would like to
spare a thought to those people and would ask you all to reach out and invite them in, share your warmth and
happiness with them. The smallest gestures can have the biggest impact.
